So in word format this is what has been oging on-
1. Classes are going well
2. Looking for summer jobs/internships in the Tampa region since the BF decided to stay there for the summer.
3. going back home this weekend for a swamp cabbage festival - curious? http://swampcabbagefestival.org/

4. Have recently dis coved a wonderful new recipe for Strawberry Shortcake

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 quart fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • Butter
  • Whipped cream

DIRECTIONS

  1. Combine strawberries and sugar; set aside. In a large bowl, sift together dry ingredients. Cut in butter until crumbly. In another bowl, beat egg; add cream. Add to crumb mixture, stirring only until moist. Pat into a greased 8-in. square or round baking pan. Bake at 450 degrees F for 15-20 minutes or until golden. Remove from pan; cool on wire rack. Just before serving, split cake in two. butter bottom layer; spoon half of the berries over butter. Replace second layer and spoon remaining berries on top. Cut into individual servings; top each with whipped cream.

  1. a swamp cabbage festival? are you sure we're related? with armadillo races? puh-leeze. a texas armadillo will run circles around a florida armadillo ANY day. besides, in 29 years, the only armadillos i saw in florida were road kill. i've seen tons of live ones in austin and i've only been here 7 years. bring it on, baby!

ps: if you're ever nursing a babe and develop mastitis, placing cabbage on the breast does wonders to relieve the pain.

  3. Roadkill and strawberry shortcake, you guys are making me hungry and as for the summerjobs may I suggest something at Bush Gardens, they probably have a ton of stuff for people who want to help with animals and you would be at a theme park all day, how cool is that?
